The Western Trap (XS Model) V1579 series provided all the features of the Western X Model Trap with the addition of vertical oscillation.

These traps were used for continental trap more commonly referred to as wobble trap. Continental trap is an international style game, with the clay birds thrown from the trap at approx. 105mph. The machine oscillates up and down as well as from side to side for a wide range of target flight from high flyers to ground hugging runners.

The machine is equipped with an elevation motor with its own on/off switch, XS3A elevation motor bracket and modified elevation linkage. Target height was varied from between 1.5 and 3 meters. Western also made a modified carrier arm capable of throwing the larger 110mm international style clay birds 75 meters.

The trap is powered by 115/230 VAC and features a 1/3 HP 1725 RPM cocking motor that draws 8 amps. The elevation motor draws 2.6 amps.

The serial number for a V1579 starts with "XS". The Western XS model trap has the same simple hand adjustments for target distance, elevation, windage and curl as the X Model.

The Western XS model is a handset machine which requires a person or "trap boy" to manually load each clay pigeon onto the throwing arm. Over the past few years, this has become a safety and liability concern for shooting ranges. Not to mention, trap boys are an added labor expense and hard to find when you need one. Western Retro has solved these problems with the TrapLoader CS270 for club use and the TrapLoader DS100 for personal practice. Western Retro provides complete restoration services for your Western trap. You'll find further resources including an owners manuals & parts listed on this website. We also purchase used traps and provide customers the option to exchange theirs for one of our refurbished machines.
